Wayne wins again
Wayne Johnson has been in good form the last 3 weeks winning the Sponsors Shield, tied first but losing on count back in the Members/Guest Invitation then last weekend winning the Medal on the Forest course with a nett 61.
Simon Gale scored his first hole in one on the Forest course 8th hole and was lucky that the clubhouse was quiet so his bar bill was very small!
If you played golf early last weekend you will have noticed the autumn chill is starting to come in and seeing a few players shivering in just shorts and shirt I felt it was a good time tell you about the winter ranges of base layers, wind tops & waterproof clothing.
Autumn on its way
Multi layering of clothing is a good way to keep warm when you start your game and as the temperature rises you can remove layers accordingly. Also this won't restrict your swing like several bulky garments would.
Base layers are compression garments and are best for temperatures between -15C and 10C, they wick moisture away from the skin and recirculate body heat keeping you warm. By adding a mid layer and an outer layer you will keep warmer longer which helps your muscles to recover back to full strength faster.
We now have in the Autumn/Winter ranges from FootJoy, Under Armour, Stuburt & Oscar Jacobson for men and Green Lamb, Daily Sport, PING Collection & Under Armour for ladies.
The excitement for the 2014 Ryder Cup continues to build. Who's your money on? It remains to be seen whether the US team will miss the injured Tiger Woods and whether a European team containing the world's best player in Rory McIlroy will prove too strong on home soil. Europe will start as favourites, but let's hope it's a competitive affair because there are fewer more exciting and enthralling moments in sport than a Ryder Cup that goes the distance.
Our hope is that whatever the result, more people feel inspired to take us this great game. We look forward to seeing you around the club and hearing your thoughts and predictions for this year's contest.
