Coaching news

Coaching Article. 2
Grip Pressure.

Having addressed your grip in last weeks newsletter, the next focus point is just how tightly you grip that club, as this too will affect the aim and release of the club.
There are many ways grip pressure can be described, but the one we like is used by Hank Haney. He says the ideal grip pressure can be assumed when you have hold of the club in your left hand (as a right handed player) and can hold the club out in front of you at a 45 degree angle. The right hand is then used as a support to maintain the angle.

For those of you that are a bit more imaginative, you should feel as though you are holding a bird but restricting its ability to wriggle.

You will find if you play with a strong grip you will tend to apply too much pressure and vice versa playing with a weak grip will promote too little pressure.
so if after our first article you are still not under control of that ball apply this concept and see if it helps.

If the ball is going left, apply a little less pressure.
If the ball is going right, grip a little tighter.

Next week we will look to recommend the right grip to help you achieve your most effective grip, with a promotion you wont want to miss.
