Thought of the week

Goodbye to 'The King'

Arnold Palmer sadly passed away but his legacy as a true icon of the game will certainly live on. Labelled as the first real superstar of the game, it is said that 'The King' transcended the game of golf.

Palmer became the first major US superstar and went on to win seven Majors, including four Masters titles - and his rivalry with the 'Big Three' dominated golf.

Tributes have poured in, from players past and present, as well as from the US President.

Jack Nicklaus said: "He was more than a golfer or even great golfer. He was an icon. Arnold was someone who was a pioneer in his sport. He was the king of our sport and always will be."

The Ryder Cup

Final Captains Pick

Davis Love III has named Ryan Moore as his final pick for this week’s Ryder Cup at Hazeltine National. Moore, who narrowly missed out on the Tour Championship title on Sunday to Team Europe’s Rory McIlroy, impressed the golfing world and Captain Love as he forced the Northern Irishman to a fourth playoff hole.

The 33-year-old has never played in a Ryder Cup but boasts an impressive match play record having claimed the U.S Amateur, NCCA title and finished fifth at the WGC-Match Play earlier this year.

Moore will head straight to Minnesota to meet up with his fellow Team USA competitors following his strong second place showing in Atlanta.

Gain more control!

We believe changing from long irons to hybrid clubs will improve most golfers looking to gain control of the shots.

But how do you know which hybrid to buy?
Check out this conversion guide.

18 degree = 2 iron
21 degree = 3 iron
25 degree = 4 iron
30 degree = 5 to 6 iron
35 degree = 7 to 8 iron

What are the benefits?

1) Send the ball flying high - studies have shown a hybrid can often get you 8 more yards than a typical iron.
2) The club design is superior - with the hybrid club design, the center of gravity is moved lower and further back from the clubface. The result? You get more trajectory and ball loft.
3) More forgiving - who DOESN'T need a club that performs well even if the sweet spot isn't hit.
4) Improved shot possibilities - with an hybrid you have more options out of bad lies, tight spots and trouble situations.

If you want to find out which might be the one for you come and chat to us and try one on the course.
