Mixed Captain/Pro Report

Optimistic after his first outing with our Lady Captain Sue, it was time for Mike to team up for the first leg of the Mixed Captain/Pro with Captain Daniels.

What looked to be a good day after 4 holes quickly went south and Mike and Captain Daniels limped back to the clubhouse with 30 points, which proved to be a very beatable score.

Both Mike and Mark have a little bit of work to do before they play for the other half of the pot against John Bole and Ashley Williamson who scored a fantastic 45 points, Hopefully they haven't peaked to soon.

Mike and Mark where able breath a little easier when Paul Radigan and Paul Terris returned a score of 29  points to prevent a  white wash.

Get in to Golf

We have again set up our Free Coaching Programme to encourage people to take up the game.

We still have 7 places available on the dates below if you would like to take advantage of this contact the office on 02380 813433

Wednesday 11:30 sessions (3 spaces)starting 11th May

Thursday 5pm sessions (4 spaces)starting 12th May

There is a  maximum of 8 people in each group. Each group will attend 6 sessions that will take them through various aspects of the game.

If you know someone that is interested in taking up the game then this is the perfect forum for them to start.

Transfer your hard work on the range to the golf course

Lots of lessons we teach, leave the lesson happy we have provided them with the thoughts to improve their game or take it to the next level, however more often than not after their next game on the course they say they have gone back to doing the same thing they were before the lesson.

I put this down to 1 thing. That 1 thing being they practice differently to how they play on the golf course!!!!

Answer the following questions Yes or No.

When you get to the range do you pour the balls into the basket and just stand on the mat and hit the balls until you have run out?

Do you pick a target?

Do you vary that Target?

Do you change clubs?

Do you have a pre-shot routine?

If you have answered No to more than half of these questions you are one of those people who practice and play differently.

So to improve the chance of you taking all your hard work on the range to the golf course take the following steps and see what happens the next time you are out on the golf course.

1. The maximum number of balls you hit should relate to the amount of shots you play in a round of golf.

2. When you arrive at the bay make your decision as to which club you are going to start with and pick a target within range of that club.

3. With each shot you play follow the same routine you would go through playing shots on the course. (Everyone's is different.)

4. Whilst practicing the points from your last lesson, take one thought that links the points together to remind yourself out on the course, for example a Trigger word or Phrase.

5. Vary your Target and the Club you use as it is very unlikely you will play the same shot twice when you are on the golf course.

(Imagine a hole on the course and play way through the hole from tee to green.)

These simple tips will not only make your practice more effective but the transfer to the golf course should be far easier.

Please let us know if you give this a try.
